The People Behind FarmShed

A small, focused team building the connective tissue of Kenyan agriculture — driven by a belief that the right help, near every farm, changes everything.

Sam Simiyu

Sam Simiyu

Founder & CEO

Sam is an agricultural economist and the founder of FarmShed. His background spans agricultural and applied economics (Moi University and the University of Nairobi) and Plant Protection and Environmental Resources Utilization (China Agricultural University).

He brings several years of experience across the agri-food sector, waste management, stakeholder engagement, urban economies, impact research, youth employability, knowledge management, and climate change mainstreaming.

“My vision is an Africa that can feed itself — because when people are hungry they lose their voice and cannot stand up for what they believe in. An Africa that feeds itself using its own people and its own resources, sustainably.”

Lian Brian

Lian Brian

Growth & Partnerships Lead

Lian leads growth and partnerships at FarmShed, bringing a cross-cultural marketing and partnerships background that bridges Kenya and China — the same corridor at the heart of FarmShed's story.

He has led digital marketing campaigns and social media growth for major media brands, planning, publishing and analysing content to drive audience engagement, and has coordinated digital promotion for large-scale productions that strengthened brand reach.

At FarmShed, he applies that strategic, cross-market lens to connect farmers, agronomists and partners — building the relationships and visibility that bring trusted agricultural support to more farms across Kenya.

Backed by an Advisory Board

FarmShed is guided by advisors with experience across agriculture, agribusiness and scaling ventures in Kenya — helping us grow thoughtfully and with impact.
